In a strategic move to strengthen its administrative backbone, St. Anthony’s College held a specialized Supervisory Training for its Middle Managers on October 28, 2025. The event, which took place at Vista Veranda, uniquely blended timeless management principles with the institution's Catholic identity.
The training was specifically designed to explore the practical application of Henri Fayol's classic 14 Principles of Management within the unique context of a Catholic educational institution. This approach provided leaders with a robust framework to enhance operational efficiency while ensuring their management style remains aligned with the college's core values and mission.
The day began with an atmosphere of camaraderie as participants gathered for early snacks. The formal Opening Program set a reflective and purposeful tone, commencing with the National Anthem and the Anthonian Hymn. A prayer session led by Rev. Fr. Frederick Rubido, MARS Formation Services Officer, provided spiritual grounding, emphasizing the integration of faith and work. Ms. Mariecar B. Baldevia, DM-BA, HRM, the Human Resource Development Officer, then welcomed the attendees and introduced the resource speaker.
The core learning was delivered through two intensive sessions by the esteemed Dr. Carina E. Raylos, PhD, AFBE. Dr. Raylos guided the managers through Fayol's principles—such as unity of command, equity, initiative, and esprit de corps—and facilitated discussions on how to apply these concepts to foster a more harmonious, just, and effective academic and administrative environment true to Catholic teachings.
A significant highlight of the afternoon was the special address delivered by Ms. Ana Linda O. Santos, Ph.D., Vice President for Academic Affairs. Dr. Santos shared her invaluable insights and practical perspectives on the application of the 14 principles, bridging theoretical management concepts with the on-the-ground realities of leading within St. Anthony's College.
The day concluded with a communal dinner and a vibrant Socials event fostering the very "esprit de corps" discussed in the sessions.
This training underscores St. Anthony’s College commitment to excellence not just in education, but in its entire operational leadership. By equipping its middle managers to lead with both administrative competence and Catholic values, the college continues to build a resilient, faith-centered, and highly effective academic community.
