INSPIRATIONAL TALK: YEAR START ASSEMBLY AY 2009-2010
Friday June 12 2009 - 1. I remember when I was assigned in Sebaste, 9 years ago, almost during this time of June, I was tasked to do the first mission appeal in the States. I really wanted to tell the people this joke during Mass: you are not given permission to be sick and you are not allowed to die during the three months that I will be away. And the irony happened: I was only away for three days when I was a given the news that my own father passed away. Read more ...

PRE-FOUNDATION DAY MASS MESSAGE
Wednesday August 1 2007 - We come together today, Wednesday, to prepare for Friday – the foundation day celebration. Our preparation is focus on our heart, in the interior sacred space in each one of us. We ask, “Why prepare the heart, and that interior sacred space in us?” And we all know the answer, simply because of this truth: when one touches and owns the heart, one touches and owns the whole person.
Who owns our individual and personal heart? Of course, no one owns our heart except, ourselves. And yet, in Christian life, we share this heart: Read more ...

THE HISTORY OF THE ADVENT WREATH
Tuesday November 29 2005 - The Advent wreath is part of our long-standing Catholic tradition. However, the actual origins are uncertain. There is evidence of pre-Christian Germanic peoples using wreathes with lit candles during the cold and dark December days as a sign of hope in the future warm and extended-sunlight days of Spring. In Scandinavia during Winter, lighted candles were placed around a wheel, and prayers were offered to the god of light to turn ?the wheel of the earth? back toward the sun to lengthen the days and restore warmth.
